Cuts to legal aid force parents to defend themselves in family court cases

This Independent article gives statistics on people who have represented themselves in the family courts in 2013/2014, discusses the effect this is having on our courts and considers the reasons for this.

As a family mediator, it also raises serious questions for me about why more of these people are not attempting mediation, which is known to create better satisfaction with long term outcomes as people remain in control of decision-making about their family lives.
